Rosenheim opens new data centre and becomes part of MuCon-X

EMC Home of Data will celebrate the opening of its new data centre in Rosenheim. The Munich-based data centre operator is not only expanding its colocation space with a new, independently operated data centre location. It is also providing Rosenheim and the south-east of Bavaria with a direct connection to MuCon-X – the new internet hub that opened in February on the new EMC Home of Data site in the north of Munich. The new data centre in Rosenheim will also be the new home of Digitalhub Bayern, making it an important building block in Bavaria’s infrastructural and digital sovereignty/development.

The new location at Salinstraße 19 is located directly on the KFO Campus (Kathrein) and, with around 1,200 square metres, will be much more than just a regional data centre including office buildings: It will be the digital home of Digitalhub Bayern, will become an important part of the infrastructure network of EMC Home of Data as a new geographically redundant data centre, and will enable the south-east of Bavaria to connect directly to the national and international network of MuCon-X, the internet hub for Munich and the DACH region that opened in February.

The grand opening on 27 May 2025 will therefore also mark the official entry of a region into the digital future.

‘With MuCon-X, we have built a bridge to the digital world of tomorrow – built on partnership, technology and regional responsibility,’ explains Bernhard Huter, Managing Director of EMC Home of Data. ‘Now we are extending this bridge to Rosenheim, creating a solid foundation for confident digitalisation in south-east Bavaria.’

The event will bring together representatives from politics, science and industry, including:

  • Andreas März, Mayor of Rosenheim
  • Werner Theiner, President of German Mittelstand e.V.
  • Representatives of the Rosenheim Technical University

and the Digitalhub Bayern.
