KÖTTER Security Group: Managing Director honoured at members’ meeting of the Federal Association of the Security Industry

Continuity and high quality create trust and are thus of central importance for the security industry. Dirk H. Bürhaus, Managing Director in the KÖTTER Security Group, embodies these aspects and has thus had a lasting influence on the development of the industry for three decades and, for more than 20 years, also on that of its largest family-owned company. The 55-year-old was honoured for his management activities at the members’ meeting of the Federal Association of the Security Industry (BDSW) in Berlin.

“On behalf of my management team and all employees, I would like to congratulate Dirk H. Bürhaus warmly on this special anniversary and the associated achievement. At the same time, I would like to thank him for his commitment, his reliability and his wealth of ideas, with which Dirk H. Bürhaus has significantly shaped the successful development of our family-owned company and the entire industry,” said Friedrich P. Kötter, Member of the Board of Directors of the KÖTTER Security Group and BDSW Vice President. “Important factors are, for example, the expansion of our market presence in southern Germany, the promotion of new service offerings in the areas of risk management, operational fire protection and the protection of critical infrastructures (CRITIS), among others, as well as his commitment to high quality standards throughout the industry. The latter is currently reflected in the European EN 17483 series of standards, which Mr Bürhaus played a major role in developing, and which should also play a central role in the protection of critical infrastructures in Germany in the future. It offers operators concrete and measurable specifications for the selection of service providers and thus makes a decisive contribution to implementing a uniformly high level of CRItIS security.”

Dirk H. Bürhaus joined the KÖTTER Security Group as Division Manager on 1 January 2003. Due to his profound know-how and great commitment, he was soon appointed Managing Director and later Managing Director of KÖTTER SE & Co. KG Security, Munich. Since 2013, he has also been managing director of German Business Protection GmbH (provider of integrated risk management) and KÖTTER Fire & Service GmbH & Co. KG (including company and plant fire brigades). Since 2014, he has also been Chairman of the Management Board of OSD SCHÄFER GmbH & Co. KG (specialist for the protection of critical infrastructures).

In addition, Dirk H. Bürhaus is involved in a wide range of association politics: as BDSW regional group chairman in Hesse and on the board of the BDSW, as a member of ASIS International (the world’s largest organisation for security experts) and in various working groups in the European umbrella organisation of the security industry CoESS. Last but not least, the 55-year-old has been actively involved in several working groups at DIN (German Institute for Standardisation) for many years and heads Working Group 1 within TC 439 at CEN (European Committee for Standardisation), which drafted the EN 17483 series of standards.
