Extensive supporting program at R+T 2024 / Focus on sustainability and energy efficiency
R+T opens its doors again from February 19 to 23, 2024. At last, experts will once again meet in person in Stuttgart to experience the latest products and services from the roller shutter, door and sun shading sectors live and in color. In addition, the varied supporting program at R+T invites trade visitors to expand their own specialist knowledge and engage in direct discussions with industry experts.
“The entire R+T team is really looking forward to the big reunion in Stuttgart! After such a long time, we can hardly wait to offer our visitors program highlights that leave nothing to be desired,” says Sebastian Schmid, Member of the Management Board at Messe Stuttgart. Special shows, forums and seminars will convey know-how par excellence and provide information on the trends and challenges facing the industry. At this edition of the trade fair, the focus will be on the topic of “sustainability”. The motto of R+T 2024 is: Future. Sustainable. Design. TogetheR+T. The content of the supporting program is strongly oriented towards the main theme and ensures that visitors can expand their own specialist knowledge in terms of “sustainability” and “energy efficiency” in a targeted manner.
“You can look forward to a wide range of innovative solutions and sustainable products from various sectors, as well as an extensive supporting program,” says Sebastian Schmid about R+T 2024.
R+T Innovation Award
“The R+T Innovation Award will once again be a special highlight in 2024,” says Melanie Brenner, Trade Fair and Event Manager at Messe Stuttgart. The R+T Innovation Award offers insights into the latest, pioneering technical developments, great designs or particularly sustainable and energy-efficient products from the world of roller shutters, doors and sun protection systems. Sebastian Schmid adds: “Over 80 percent of the companies develop their innovations for R+T and present them to the global audience at R+T. This means that R+T is and remains an innovation platform for the entire industry. This has already been demonstrated in advance: Never before have we had so many submissions for the Innovation Award as this year.” From a total of 125 products submitted by 79 companies from 17 countries, 41 products were nominated for a R+T Innovation Award by the independent jury.
In the next step, the winners will be determined. The Innovation Award will be presented to selected guests on the evening before the trade fair opens. Prizes can be awarded in a total of eleven categories in gold, silver and bronze as well as special prizes for sustainability, energy efficiency, design and a young craftsmen’s prize. “The award-winning innovations can be put through their paces live and in color throughout R+T. This will give trade visitors a comprehensive overview of which products and services can be used to meet the high demands of our time,” adds Melanie Brenner.
ift special show “Protection against overheating”
The theme of this year’s ift Rosenheim special show at R+T 2024 is “Protection against overheating”. The special show will demonstrate what sustainable, climate-safe and energy-efficient building products should look like and how they should be labeled. The focus is on reducing CO2 emissions during production and use, sustainable production, easy repairability and maintenance as well as protection against climate extremes. The focus is on solar shading as an efficient, climate-safe and sustainable protection against overheating in buildings. The special show can be visited daily at stand 9C80 in hall 9.
ES-SO Seminar & Campfire Sessions
In addition, this edition of the trade fair will once again feature a seminar by the ES-SO, European Solar Shading Organization, which will focus on the latest developments in the field of solar shading solutions with regard to the energy efficiency and sustainability of buildings. The topic of the seminar is “Climate resilience through intelligent solar shading”. Visitors can gain valuable insights into the central role of solar shading in the European legislative landscape, particularly in the context of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The seminar will be held in English in the VIP Lounge seminar room on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
On Thursday, February 22, 2024, and Friday morning, February 23, 2024, there will also be 20-minute campfire sessions on the topic of “Sustainability through intelligent solar shading” at selected exhibitor stands. “An ideal opportunity to learn more about and be inspired by the sun shading industry,” says Melanie Brenner.
Program for architects
R+T 2024 will once again offer architects a wide range of knowledge transfer and product innovations. On Thursday, February 22, 2024 in particular, there will be a wide range of lectures and workshops for architects and planners. The highlight is the series of events entitled “Building envelopes: Integral. Foresighted. Durable.”, which is being held in cooperation with the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects (AKBW). In the morning, representatives from Behnisch Architekten and Werner Sobek AG will focus on the Edge Elbside Hamburg project in terms of climate resilience. In the afternoon, speakers from AMP Ingenieurgesellschaft and OS A Ochs Schmidhuber Architekten will focus on existing buildings with the Incubator project. The sessions can be booked individually in advance via the R+T website and will be recognized by the AKBW with 1 training hour each upon successful participation. The event series will take place on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. in room C4 at the ICS.
“R+T 2024 is a real source of inspiration for architects and planners to expand their own design scope with new materials, ideas and technologies. The topics of ‘sustainability’ and ‘energy efficiency’ also play a major role in the field of architecture and will therefore be increasingly addressed in the architects’ program,” explains Philipp Götz, Manager Trade Fair and Event Management at Messe Stuttgart.
“Before and after the two sessions, there will also be the opportunity to visit R+T exhibitors who are presenting particularly interesting products for architects. These are marked with the ‘Products for architects’ seal.”
Door Forum
The Door Forum will also take place again at R+T 2024 and inform visitors about the current challenges and trends in the door industry – from digitalization in door technology to testing and certification as well as current cases from the appraisal sector. In addition, the topic of “sustainability” will also be addressed, for example with the presentation of the Energy Label of the European Door Association E.D.S.F. which is intended to implement the EU Commission’s “Green Deal”.
The associations BVT – Verband Tore, Bundesverband Antriebs- und Steuerungstechnik. Tore (BAS.T) and ift Rosenheim as well as the international associations European Door and Shutter Federation (E.D.S.F.) and ACMI – Italian Door and Shutter Association are jointly organizing the lecture program – consisting of various short lectures and discussion rounds – which will take place daily in the Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10) at Stand 10D51.
Smart Home Forum
The rapid development of smart home technology has revolutionized living in recent years. From controlling sun protection and lighting via a smartphone to voice-controlled assistants that provide support in everyday life – the possibilities seem endless. But how will smart homes develop in the future?
At this edition of the trade fair, the Smart Home Forum will focus on the topics of sustainability and energy efficiency and show trends and innovations that will shape the smart home of the future. Daily presentations and discussion rounds with experts will offer interesting insights into an important topic area that has significant development potential for the sun shading industry with the current political demands for energy efficiency and sustainability. The Smart Home Forum will take place daily at the Bundesverband Rollladen + Sonnenschutz e.V. stand (stand EO335) in the East Entrance at lunchtime.
OUTDOOR. AMBIENTE. LIVING.
OUTDOOR. AMBIENTE. LIVING. enters the next round. This edition of the special show for sun and weather protection will once again present everything that makes outdoor catering as usable and comfortable as possible for all weather conditions – true to the motto “Enjoy the outdoors – 365 days a year”.
Well-known manufacturers such as Bahama, Brand New Projekt, Caravita, Cisoventex, Corradi, Erhardt Markisen, Euromarkisen, Leiner, Lucas Outdoor, Markilux, Me-Design, ParaPro, Reflexa, Shadesign and Warema will be presenting their innovative sun and weather protection systems with a focus on outdoor catering: from awnings, sunshades and sun sails to patio or louvre roofs and a wide range of accessories. OUTDOOR. AMBIENTE. LIVING. takes place daily in the upper and lower Rothaus Park of the Stuttgart exhibition grounds.
Young talents
“The Bundesverband Rollladen + Sonnenschutz e.V. (BVRS) will once again be represented at R+T 2024 with its proven program highlight. Visitors can once again look forward to the “Young Talents” special show at the BVRS stand,” promises Philipp Götz. At “Young Talents”, the next generation of roller shutter and sun protection technicians will present selected works. “The masterpieces presented there as well as the journeyman’s examination work show the high level of performance of training in the roller shutter and sun protection technician trade,” adds Melanie Brenner. The “Young Talents” special show can be visited daily at the BVRS stand (stand EO331) in the East Entrance.
Craftsman Battle
The 2024 Handwerkerbattle will be held under the motto “We’re looking for the best” and will follow the tried-and-tested principle: Two teams compete against each other and have to solve a variety of tasks. For example, they have to change the fabric on an awning or install external venetian blinds, roller shutters or ZIP systems. Adjusting drive motors and programming a smart home system are other exciting tasks that need to be solved. The areas of interior sun protection, gates and the trend topic of outdoor living are new. The whole thing takes place under real conditions on site. In addition to time, the quality of the work also plays a decisive role. All trade fair visitors can take part. It’s worth taking part, as the winners of the day will once again receive interesting prizes from the Apple Store. The Craftsman Battle will take place daily at the East Entrance at stand EO342.
