Demand for high-speed doors grows robustly

Growth in the Austrian market for garage and industrial doors was price-driven in 2022. Only in the case of high-speed doors was demand also expanded, as shown by current data from two market studies by the market research institute Marktanalyse.
The market for garage and industrial doors also recorded a significant increase in turnover last year. According to the current BRANCHENRADAR Garage Doors and Industrial Doors in Austria, the revenues of manufacturers and general importers increased by around six percent in 2022 compared to the previous year to a total of 149.2 million euros. Garage doors accounted for 65.6 million euros (+3.8% yoy) and industrial doors for 83.6 million euros (+7.7% yoy). In both markets, however, growth was exclusively price-driven. Demand fell by around 1.5 percent year-on-year in each case.
Only high-speed doors, which are predominantly used in production and logistics buildings, developed against the negative sales trend. Already in 2021, demand rose by nine percent compared to the previous year. Most recently, the increase was just under ten percent. The trend towards high-speed doors is not least due to rising energy costs, as the products help to reduce energy loss through open doors without noticeably disrupting production processes. As a result, high-speed doors also grew much faster in terms of revenue than in the other product segments. Turnover with high-speed doors rose by 16.0 percent, with sectional doors, however, by a total of 5.5 percent and with other door types (folding doors, roller doors, up-and-over doors, etc.) by only 1.6 percent compared to the previous year.
