Digitalisation in the public sector: Frequentis is pioneering with LifeX™

July 28, 2025

Frequentis AG is driving digitalisation in the public sector with its modular LifeX™ platform. The Austrian company, which is the international market leader, uses this platform to connect control centres and enable consistent, efficient and secure operations management.

Whether it’s the police, fire brigade or defence, the public sector as a whole faces the major challenge of digitising processes and optimising internal and external communication channels. There are many reasons for this. For example, factors such as a shortage of skilled workers and tight budgets are forcing authorities and administrations to become more efficient. New EU regulations concerning the introduction of NG112 (multi-media emergency calls) and MCX (pan-European radio communication system) as well as geopolitical tensions also require extensive investment in the digitalisation of national and alliance defence and cyber defence, which must simultaneously meet the highest security and availability requirements. Frequentis AG (WKN: A2PHG5; ISIN: ATFREQUENT09) is doing pioneering work in this area – among other things with its modular LifeX™ platform.

LifeX™: The flexible control centre and operations management solution

LifeX™ connects all steps of an operation – from emergency call reception and dispatch planning to follow-up – in a single, easily expandable platform. Thanks to its advanced, modular architecture, LifeX™ can integrate a wide range of systems with different protocols, which can be flexibly exchanged or updated without affecting ongoing operations. This is because LifeX consists of many small building blocks (microservices), each of which performs exactly one task. This allows only those components that an authority currently needs to be used. New functions can then be added later without any problems.

LifeX can also be connected directly to card systems, radio networks, mobile apps or hospital information systems via standardised interfaces. The ‘LifeX Connect Hub’ also ensures that third-party sensors, drone cameras or IoT devices can be integrated into the system so that incident commanders always have a complete picture of the situation.

Another advantage of LifeX is maximum availability, as the system can be implemented on local servers (on-premises) or with a cloud infrastructure. In the event of major incidents or short peaks in call volumes, LifeX automatically switches on additional computing power. This ensures that the control centre remains accessible at all times, even under extreme loads. LifeX meets the strict requirements for redundancy and IT security.

LifeX offers several advantages for customers in the public sector: automation and clear standards result in significant savings potential for authorities. AI-supported speech recognition and automatic alerting also reduce the time between the emergency call and the dispatch of resources, and real-time data enables better planning of resources, reduces idle times and increases efficiency. At the same time, LifeX provides audit-proof documentation of all steps, thereby strengthening transparency and trust in the communication and cooperation platform.

Practical examples of LifeX in the public sector

Global references have been demonstrating the performance of LifeX in the public sector for years. In Germany alone, the platform has already been integrated into the operations of many federal states. The latest example: the Thuringia State Police is getting a new control centre and dispatch system based on LifeX. Frequentis is responsible for project management, implementation and round-the-clock operation, including support. In Asia (Malaysia), LifeX is already an integral part of the future communication systems of nationwide emergency services.

Due to its global success, Frequentis AG is continuously developing LifeX. Future features will include advanced AI analysis for incident classification, mobile apps for emergency services, and live aerial images from drones and robot systems. Frequentis is also expanding its international support hubs in North America and Australia. The aim is to help authorities worldwide work more safely and efficiently with LifeX.
