Important milestone reached: Over 1,500 volunteers in the Security Watch for the first time – Strong signal for our security – New service ID card coming soon – Honors for special services
“For the first time, more than 1,500 highly motivated women and men in 268 Bavarian cities and municipalities are volunteering for the Bavarian Security Watch! We have thus reached our important milestone and significantly strengthened the presence and visibility of the Bavarian Security Watch – a strong sign for our security!” This was stated today by Bavaria’s Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann at the 9th State Security Watch Conference in Ingolstadt. “The Bavarian Security Watch increases the feeling of security and helps to prevent crimes and misdemeanors. I would like to thank all Security Watch members for their tremendous commitment, dedication, time, and willingness to repeatedly put themselves at the service of the community,” said the minister.
As Herrmann explained, it is not least thanks to dedicated advertising measures and further developments that the significant milestone of 1,500 has been reached. The prospective security watch members are equipped and trained by the local police stations. The training and further education covers a wide range of topics and includes legal content as well as communication and conflict management training and first aid training.
Security guards can also look forward to a new service ID card in the future,” announced Herrmann. The new service ID card, with its visual resemblance to the police service ID card, expresses the close connection between the Bavarian Security Guard volunteer service and the Bavarian police. According to current plans, the new ID cards are to be issued as early as the first quarter of 2026.
The Minister of the Interior honored five women and men of the Bavarian Security Guard with a certificate, a glass stele, and a small gift for their special services and long-standing commitment:
