Solar-powered outdoor camera for flexible security applications

July 10, 2026

aosu is expanding its smart home portfolio with the SolarCam D1 Classic, featuring 360° panoramic view, AI-powered person detection and local storage

With the SolarCam D1 Classic, aosu is introducing a new outdoor camera for private security applications, which is particularly suitable for use in locations where there is no fixed power supply. The wireless camera combines an integrated solar panel with a motorised 360-degree panoramic view, 2K video resolution and AI-powered analysis functions, and is aimed at homeowners who wish to monitor entrances, driveways, gardens or patios flexibly.

Thanks to its self-sufficient power supply via the integrated solar panel, separate power cabling is not required in many scenarios. Installation is a DIY process, allowing for relatively straightforward fitting in a variety of outdoor areas.

Panoramic view with automatic motion tracking

At the heart of the SolarCam D1 Classic is a motorised pan function that enables full 360-degree coverage of the surveillance area. This is complemented by AI-based person detection, which can distinguish people from other motion events and automatically track detected objects.

In addition, the camera features an early warning system designed to respond to suspicious activity within the detection range. For active deterrence, it includes an integrated LED spotlight, an audible alarm system and a two-way audio function, allowing users to communicate directly with people on site.

2K resolution and colour night vision

For image recording, aosu utilises 2K resolution, which is designed to enable detailed outdoor video recordings. Even in the dark, the camera supports enhanced colour night vision, ensuring that people and objects remain more clearly recognisable than with traditional black-and-white recordings.

In the event of an incident, users receive real-time notifications on their smartphone. The notifications already include a snapshot preview, enabling a quick initial assessment of the situation. In addition, the Smart Playback function supports targeted playback of recorded events.

Local storage without the need for the cloud

Aosu takes a flexible approach to data storage. Recordings can be stored locally on a microSD card, meaning that a cloud connection is not mandatory for operation. Communication takes place via Wi-Fi in the 2.4 GHz band and via Bluetooth.

For outdoor use, the SolarCam D1 Classic features an IP66-rated water-resistant housing, protecting it against rain and dust.

Smart home integration

The camera can be integrated into existing smart home setups and supports both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This allows video footage to be accessed, for example, via compatible smart displays or voice assistants.

In addition to the camera, the package includes the integrated solar panel, mounting hardware and a user manual.

Availability

The aosu SolarCam D1 Classic is now available from specialist retailers in Germany, including the smart home retailer tink.
