The Middle East’s largest shopping centre relies on surveillance technology from AMG

“The Avenues Riyadh” is currently one of the most ambitious construction projects in the Middle East. Once completed, the new shopping and leisure centre is set to become the region’s largest shopping centre, attracting millions of visitors each year. For its security and surveillance infrastructure, the project relies on network technologies from AMG Systems.
To ensure comprehensive video surveillance across the extensive site, a high-performance and future-proof network infrastructure for more than 1,400 IP cameras had to be created. The requirements included a reliable fibre-optic connection over long distances, power supply to the cameras via Power over Ethernet (PoE), and the ability to expand the system in the future without major modifications.
Together with the project developers, AMG Systems developed a hybrid network solution. Among other things, media converters from the AMG250 series are used, connecting more than 600 cameras via the fibre-optic backbone and ensuring high reliability through redundancy functions. The infrastructure is supplemented by PoE extenders from the AMG140A-1GR series, which power over 800 cameras at remote or hard-to-reach locations. The devices enable the transmission of power and data over distances of more than 100 metres, thereby reducing the need for additional cabling and separate power sources.
According to the company, the solution offers high operational reliability, supports future expansions of the security infrastructure and helps to reduce infrastructure costs by minimising installation effort.
The implementation will create one of the most advanced video surveillance networks in the Middle East. The operators expect this to deliver continuous real-time monitoring, improved security standards and greater operational efficiency for what will be the region’s largest shopping centre.
