Time recording terminals and a cloud-based access solution win German Design Awards

With its global reach and international appeal, the German Design Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the design industry, across all sectors. The high-calibre international jury has now honoured the new K7 generation of terminals for time recording and the cloud-based access solution skyra from dormakaba in the category Excellent Product Design – Building and Elements with a winner for their outstanding design quality.

The two awards were presented to Bernhard Heitz, Strategic Product Design at dormakaba, at the awards ceremony on 7 February 2025 in Frankfurt am Main. ‘We are very pleased and proud to have received these two awards in this renowned international design competition. The ‘Winner’ award from the German Design Council honours the outstanding and exemplary design of our submitted products, thereby strengthening our reputation as a design-oriented, innovative company.’

The new dormakaba terminals 96 00 and 98 00 in the new K7 series support individual working time models, meet the specific needs of employers and are designed to adapt to different requirements and display designs. The terminals are flexible, future-proof, easy to integrate and sustainable. These robust terminals are energy-efficient and have a proximity sensor. During the design process, emphasis was placed on reparability, which ensures sustainable maintenance and long-term functionality.

The smart, cloud-based access solution skyra ensures secure, easy access to distributed critical infrastructure sites. The skyra portfolio includes a variety of locking cylinder designs for every locking situation and a rechargeable key that communicates access rights and locking information with the cloud service in conjunction with the mobile app. Technicians receive access rights on their smartphone and can forward them to the skyra key at any time via Bluetooth. The skyra key then supplies the door cylinder with power on site and grants access, even without network coverage or batteries.
