KJM approves Widas ID’s ‘cidaas ID validator’ and IN Groupe’s overall concept ‘IN ID’

The Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media (https://www.kjm-online.de/) (KJM) has rated the ‘cidaas ID validator’ from Widas ID (https://www.widas.de/) and the overall concept ‘IN ID’ from IN Groupe (https://ingroupe.com/) as positive age verification systems. According to KJM Chair Eva-Maria Sommer, ‘age checks are a crucial component in protecting young people online’.

Fully automated and AI-supported

The cidaas ID validator is a fully automated, AI-supported AutoIdent procedure that enables video-based identity verification. The procedure combines automated ID document verification with a biometric face scan including liveness detection and a subsequent AI-supported comparison of extracted features.

The IN ID system enables identification through software-supported comparison of ID documents and photographs, as well as automatic capture of ID data. To use the system, users first download the app. Authentication takes place via a QR code that is displayed before the offer for which age verification is required. The app then opens after entering a password or using a Face ID function.

Protection of minors guaranteed

According to the KJM, the two systems are ‘suitable as a complete AV concept or as partial solutions in the area of identification or authentication in accordance with the KJM criteria for ensuring a closed user group for adults in accordance with the Youth Media Protection State Treaty’.
