VdS 3134-2 ‘Technical Comments – Intrusion Detection Technology’

December 12, 2025

VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH has published the new edition of VdS 3134-2 ‘Technical Comments – Intrusion Detection Technology’ (as of 12-2025). With this document, VdS is responding to the increasingly complex terminology used in security technology. International standardisation activities are leading to the introduction of more and more English technical terms, while traditional German terms are being replaced in some cases or interpreted differently in practice. In addition, many companies are coining their own terms, which makes communication even more difficult. The technical comments provide important guidance in this regard: they explain current technical terms, clearly distinguish between pairs of terms that sound similar and, where appropriate, include historical background information and technical developments. In this way, they create a reliable basis for planners, installers, manufacturers and operators to classify burglar alarm technology more clearly and apply it in accordance with standards.
