Verkada expands globally: New locations and strong growth driven by AI-based security solutions

March 26, 2026

The US-based provider Verkada is consistently continuing its growth trajectory and driving forward its international expansion.

The company, which specialises in AI-powered physical security solutions, announced the opening of four new offices in the US – Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles – as well as an international hub in Dubai. The expansion follows an extremely successful financial year, in which revenue increased by 30 per cent compared to the previous year.

At the same time, Verkada secured significant funding from CapitalG, the independent growth fund of the technology group Alphabet Inc. This investment values the company at US$5.8 billion and underscores the strong momentum in the market for smart security solutions.

Strong growth and rising customer numbers

Verkada now has over 31,000 customers worldwide, including more than 100 companies from the Fortune 500 list. In total, over two million of the company’s devices are in use. Particularly noteworthy is the increasing use of multiple product lines: 78 per cent of core customers rely on at least two solutions, whilst over half already use three or more products in an integrated manner.

This high level of customer loyalty is also evident in financial terms: on average, customers double their initial investment within the first year. This is complemented by high customer satisfaction, as evidenced by a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 51.

AI as a driver of the security industry

This strong growth is largely attributable to the rising demand for proactive, AI-based security solutions.

Verkada’s goal is to make physical security systems smarter, more efficient and more scalable.

Last year, the company introduced over 174 new AI features and product updates. Key innovations include:

  • AI-powered deterrence systems that detect unusual behaviour such as loitering and automatically trigger context-based voice messages
  • A unified AI timeline that visually reconstructs the movements of people or vehicles, significantly speeding up investigations
  • Multilingual intercom solutions with real-time translation, enabling intuitive communication without the need for specific contact persons
  • Intelligent alarm functions that respond to unusual events such as falls, unauthorised entry or unusual noises

These technologies enable companies to detect security incidents more quickly, take preventive action and optimise operational processes.

Scaling for global deployment

With over two million connected devices in 171 countries, Verkada achieves an enormous operational reach.

At peak times, the systems process more than 400 million images per hour. At the same time, the platform enables around eight million door openings daily via digital access controls.

The solutions’ capabilities are also evident in the area of visitor management: last year, more than 5,000 potential security risks were detected early and prevented.

Tangible benefits for customers

The implementation of Verkada technology leads to measurable efficiency gains and cost savings across various industries:

  • A global industrial group reduced security incidents by 30 per cent and accelerated investigations fivefold
  • A non-profit organisation saved around US$1.5 million over seven years through reduced IT costs
  • A leading research institution reduced door-related issues by 93 per cent and significantly cut administrative overheads
  • A care provider completely eliminated incidents of dementia patients wandering off over a six-month period

These examples illustrate how AI-based security solutions can not only minimise risks but also improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Strategic positioning in a future-oriented market

With its cloud-based platform and six integrated product lines – ranging from video surveillance and access control to environmental sensors – Verkada is positioning itself as a comprehensive provider in the field of physical security.

CEO Filip Kaliszan emphasises the strategic importance of this development:

The increasing integration of artificial intelligence into physical environments opens up enormous market opportunities and enables the creation of safer infrastructures worldwide.

The current expansion steps and technological advances clearly demonstrate that the market for AI-powered security solutions is in a phase of dynamic growth – and Verkada is one of the key drivers of this development.
