ABUS ConHasp 205: Flexible container security without structural modifications

June 12, 2026

Removable container lock protects storage, construction and transport containers from unauthorised access

Containers are now standard equipment on construction sites, company premises, storage areas and along logistics supply chains. They serve as a temporary storage solution for tools, machinery, materials or goods and enable quick access to required resources. At the same time, however, they represent an attractive target for theft, vandalism and unauthorised access – particularly when used outside permanently secured areas.

With the ConHasp 205, ABUS offers a security solution specifically developed for the flexible securing of storage and shipping containers. The removable container lock provides effective protection without the need for structural modifications to the container.

Security solution for temporary deployment scenarios

Unlike permanently installed security systems, the ConHasp 205 is attached directly to the container’s door stanchions. No drilling, welding or bolting is required. This makes the solution particularly suitable for rental, swap or project containers, where structural modifications are often impossible or undesirable.

This approach offers a practical advantage, particularly in dynamic operational environments where containers are regularly moved or replaced. The security device can be dismantled if necessary and reused elsewhere.

According to ABUS, the system was developed specifically for situations where quick and straightforward security is required without altering the existing container structure.

Protection even against tampering attempts

The ConHasp 205 is designed for containers with a bar spacing of between 225 and 480 millimetres and can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Particular attention has been paid to protection against violent attacks. Special cut-outs on the rear of the structure are designed to ensure that the security function remains intact even if perpetrators attempt to cut through the container’s locking bars.

The structure is made of durable steel and features galvanisation as well as an additional powder coating. This ensures the system is designed for long-term use under demanding weather and environmental conditions.

Compatible with high-security padlocks

For locking, the ConHasp 205 can be combined with various padlocks from the ABUS range. Among others, the GRANIT 37/55HB38 and 83/60-5 Rock models are supported. A padlock with a fully removable shackle is required.

In addition to the version without a padlock, ABUS also offers the system as a complete solution with a matching padlock.

Rising demands on container security

Securing containers is becoming increasingly important in many sectors. In addition to traditional theft risks, unauthorised access can have significant economic consequences – for example, through the loss of high-value tools, machinery or materials, as well as resulting operational disruptions.

Particularly on construction sites, in industry and in logistics, there is therefore a growing demand for security solutions that can be flexibly adapted to changing locations whilst offering a high level of protection.

With the ConHasp 205, ABUS addresses precisely this requirement profile and expands its portfolio with a solution that combines mobile application scenarios with robust physical security.
