Allegion acquires Plano Group in Germany

November 10, 2022

Allegion plc, through one of its subsidiaries, Interflex, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Plano Group, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) workforce management solution. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2023, subject to customary closing conditions.

Plano, based in Germany, is a long-time service provider and development partner for Allegion’s leading European workforce management brand, Interflex, and its SP-Expert software platform. Following completion of the acquisition, Plano will continue to serve Advanced Workforce Management (AWFM) customers as part of the Interflex portfolio.

Interflex CEO Bernhard Sommer said this acquisition will accelerate seamless access and drive the expansion of Interflex and its AWFM business with new capabilities in SaaS models and recurring revenue solutions.

“This strategic acquisition significantly expands our position as a market leader in workforce management and underscores our commitment to growth and meeting customer needs through investments in software solutions,” Sommer said. “It will add mobile software development talent to our business while strengthening our presence in attractive end-user markets such as healthcare, banking and insurance, call centres, retail and local government. At the same time, it will drive the expansion of the Plano software platform and provide a broader range of services to both Plano and Interflex customers.”

Plano’s founder, Robert Schüler, will join Interflex to ensure a smooth integration and drive the strategy of the AWFM software business.

“This acquisition is a natural evolution for Plano as it provides important resources in terms of capital, scale and demand generation,” Schüler said. “Our long-standing relationship with Interflex will support an efficient transition that benefits our customers and builds on our mutual reputation for quality and excellence.”

The agreement to acquire Plano follows another recent investment in Interflex’s AWFM business – Allegion’s acquisition of the assets of Astrum Benelux B.V. (Belgium) and WorkforceIT B.V. (Netherlands) in 2021.
