ALTENPFLEGE 2026 in Essen, Germany: Smart access solutions for greater efficiency, security and independence in everyday care

At ALTENPFLEGE 2026, Salto will be demonstrating at stand 130 in hall 6 how modern digital access solutions can be seamlessly integrated into the processes of care facilities and home care providers, thereby significantly increasing both security and efficiency.

The digitalisation of central processes is now an essential factor for smooth operations in care facilities and among home care providers. In this context, Salto will be presenting its access systems, which are closely integrated with IT, management and building technology solutions. These include connections to ERP systems for master data exchange, integrations with laundry systems for automated textile distribution, and links to lighting, heating and blind controls. This networking allows recurring tasks to be automated and reduces the workload on staff, while also lowering operating costs.

Another advantage of digital access systems is the considerable cost and time savings when dealing with lost keys. Electronic access media can be blocked within seconds; there is no need to replace cylinders or keys, as is necessary with mechanical systems. Even in the event of structural changes, such as the conversion of individual rooms or entire areas, all that is required is an adjustment to the software, without the need for physical intervention on doors.

Care facilities face the daily challenge of granting appropriate, clearly defined access rights to different user groups – from residents to nursing staff and medical personnel to visitors and external service providers. Salto access solutions make it possible to map these roles precisely and adapt them flexibly. Changes, such as staff turnover, rota changes or temporary employment relationships, take effect immediately without the need for technical adjustments to doors. This ensures transparency, security and a reliable structure throughout the building.

In addition, digital documentation of all access events facilitates the traceability of security-related processes. Whether medicine cabinets, filing cabinets, storage rooms or sensitive technical rooms – all areas can be integrated into the access management system so that responsibilities are clearly identifiable and processes are documented in an audit-proof manner. This is an important part of modern facility management, particularly with regard to internal quality checks and external audits.
