Expansion of the Service and Sales Network in the North American Market

Swedish access and entrance systems provider Assa Abloy has announced the acquisition of the Canadian company Sentinel Dock & Door. With this acquisition, the group is strengthening its market position in the commercial loading dock and door systems sector, as well as its service business in Canada.

“I am very pleased to welcome Sentinel to Assa Abloy. The acquisition is in line with our strategy to further expand our position in established markets through complementary products and solutions for our core business,” said Nico Delvaux, President and CEO of Assa Abloy.

According to the company, the acquisition significantly expands Assa Abloy’s direct market presence in Canada. In particular, the service and maintenance business as well as regional coverage are expected to benefit from the integration.

“The acquisition of Sentinel significantly strengthens our direct sales channels, including the service business, and expands our presence across Canada. With Sentinel’s service-oriented business model and established operational platform, we are excellently positioned to further accelerate growth in this market,” said Massimo Grassi, Executive Vice President of Assa Abloy and Head of the Entrance Systems Division.

Sentinel Dock & Door was founded in 1983 and employs approximately 375 people. The company is headquartered in the Canadian province of Ontario and operates nationwide. Going forward, Sentinel will be assigned to the Industrial business unit within the Entrance Systems division.

In fiscal year 2025, Sentinel generated revenue of approximately 137 million Canadian dollars. Based on current exchange rates, this corresponds to approximately 87 million euros. According to Assa Abloy, the company generated a solid EBIT margin. The acquisition is expected to have a positive impact on the Group’s earnings per share (EPS) from the outset.

The companies have not disclosed any further financial details regarding the transaction.
