SicherheitsExpo Munich has established itself as the leading platform for physical and digital security solutions. This year’s event focused in particular on integrated security concepts, electronic access control and the interconnection of various building systems. BKS GmbH used the trade fair to showcase the latest developments from its portfolio of electronic locking and access solutions, as well as security management systems.
Under the motto “Access redefined. Intelligent. Keyless. Connected.”, the company presented solutions for a range of applications – from office and administrative buildings, through hospitals and hotels, to industrial facilities and critical infrastructure.
Focus on electronic access control
A key highlight was the latest generation of the ixalo pro electronic locking system. The system comprises various components such as double-knob and half-cylinder locks, electronic door fittings, wall-mounted readers and a gateway for networking the system. The solution is based on RFID technology compliant with the MIFARE® standard and is designed for a wide variety of building types, including care homes, hospitals, banks, office buildings, industrial premises and server rooms.
Thanks to its modular design, the system can be adapted to different property sizes and integrated into existing security concepts.
Cloud-based access management
With BKS | smart, the company unveiled a cloud-based access solution for small and medium-sized premises. Management is carried out via a mobile app, allowing authorisations to be granted or adjusted from any location. According to the company, no specialist IT knowledge or local server infrastructure is required for this. Encryption technologies and a cloud architecture are designed to support the secure management of access data.
Digital processes in hotel operations
Another key focus at the trade fair was BKS | hotel, a software solution for electronic access management in accommodation establishments. The system supports the management of guest rooms as well as other areas such as car parks, wellness facilities and conference zones. Access media can be generated automatically via an interface with the hotel booking software. According to the company, access rights are granted without permanently storing personal data on the access media.
Security management and integrated systems
In addition to its access solutions, BKS also presented the browser-based security and risk management system GEMOS. This vendor-neutral Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) system consolidates information from various systems – such as access control, fire alarm technology and video surveillance – on a single user interface and supports security-related processes through automated workflows.
In addition, GEMOS access, a networked access control system designed for centralised management, overview and flexible authorisation control, was unveiled. The system is aimed at organisations with complex requirements for the management of access rights.
SicherheitsExpo as an industry meeting place
The SicherheitsExpo Munich brings together manufacturers, planners, operators and users from the fields of security and building technology every year. The focus is on solutions for industrial companies, public authorities, banks, hospitals, airports, museums and operators of critical infrastructure. The range of topics covers everything from access control and video surveillance to fire protection, hazard detection technology and cybersecurity.
During his tour of the exhibition, the Bavarian Minister of the Interior, Joachim Herrmann, also visited the BKS stand to find out more about the solutions on display.
Positive feedback on the exhibition presence
According to the company, the electronic access solutions in particular attracted a great deal of interest. BKS highlights the high visitor turnout as well as the in-depth technical discussions with planners, installers and operators of security infrastructures. The revamped stand concept, which placed the emphasis on electronic products and digital access solutions, was well received by visitors to the exhibition.
Lutz Lüke, Sales Manager at BKS GmbH, draws a positive conclusion: “This year’s SicherheitsExpo Munich was once again a resounding success for BKS. The new stand concept and the focus on BKS’s electronic products were praised in many discussions. Above all, the quality of the discussions deserves special mention.”
Through its exhibition presence, BKS highlighted the trend towards networked and software-based access solutions, in which electronic locking systems, cloud applications and integrated security platforms are increasingly converging to form a single, comprehensive system.
