City Pop is driving forward its European growth strategy with a fully digitalised access solution. The company has introduced mobile, cardless access systems across its apartment portfolio, utilising wireless ASSA ABLOY technology featuring Aperio Wireless Locks in conjunction with the Incedo Pro access management system.
The modernised apartments and selected communal areas have been fitted with battery-powered, wireless fittings. The aim was to create a scalable solution that does not require a traditional reception desk and supports growth across multiple countries.
Previously, City Pop used RFID access cards. However, the manual issuing and management of access rights presented an increasing operational hurdle. With the new solution, access rights are now automatically linked to the booking system and granted to guests in real time.
Tenants and short-stay guests gain access either via the City Pop app or by entering a PIN code directly at the lock. This allows for flexible arrival times without the need for a check-in desk. At the same time, the system reduces the need for on-site staff.
The Aperio E100 Wireless Keypad Escutcheon is used in particular. This enables the retrofitting of existing buildings without cabling or structural alterations to the doors – a decisive factor for existing properties.
Through integration with Incedo Pro, City Pop now manages time-limited access rights centrally, across multiple sites and remotely. The portfolio now spans locations in Germany, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Italy. Stays can be booked for a month or from as little as one night, depending on the property.
According to the company, the ongoing rollout project now covers more than 2,500 doors.
In addition to efficiency and scalability benefits, the solution also supports sustainability goals. The elimination of keys and cards reduces plastic consumption, whilst the reduced need for permanently staffed reception desks avoids unnecessary travel. Furthermore, battery-powered wireless locks require less energy than comparable wired systems.
Additionally installed Signo Readers on external doors, lifts and high-traffic areas feature an Intelligent Power Mode, which is designed to further reduce energy consumption.
