Dormakaba Strengthens US Business Through Acquisition of Azure Access and Apollo Security

August 20, 2026

Dormakaba is acquiring the operating businesses of Azure Access Technology Inc. and ADME Inc. (Apollo Security). With this transaction, the Swiss security group aims to expand its position in the US market for electronic access control and, in particular, strengthen its business in open component-based solutions for OEM partners. The signing and closing of the transaction took place on August 14, 2026. The purchase price and other financial details have not been disclosed.

Azure Access was founded in 2019 in Newport Beach, California, and develops customizable hardware for electronic access control systems. Its core offering is an open controller platform designed for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and software providers. This enables partners to develop their own controller panels and accessory solutions and to integrate new functionalities into existing access systems at a relatively fast pace.

Apollo Security, also based in Newport Beach, complements the portfolio with its long-standing expertise in the development and manufacturing of access control and integrated security systems. Together, the two companies employ around 30 people and supply access control solution providers worldwide.

“The acquisition of the assets of Azure Access and Apollo Security will accelerate the development of next-generation access control solutions and advance our components strategy in the United States,” explains Till Reuter, CEO of Dormakaba. Until now, Dormakaba has primarily offered complete, fully integrated solutions. Going forward, the company intends to expand its open component portfolio of locks, readers, and controllers specifically for OEM partners, thereby creating an additional sales channel.

Azure Access and Apollo Security also see new growth opportunities in the acquisition. Evan Zinger, Executive Vice President of Azure Access and Apollo Security, expects particular benefits from Dormakaba’s broader international reach and additional resources for product development.

Strategically, the acquisition underscores Dormakaba’s shift toward placing greater emphasis on open, modularly integrable access control components alongside complete solutions. In the US market in particular, this is expected to improve access to software providers and OEM partners and accelerate the development of new electronic access control solutions.
