Integration instead of rewiring: efficiently integrating existing detectors into wireless architectures

March 3, 2026

When modernising or expanding existing burglar alarm systems, project delays often occur because existing cabling in existing buildings cannot simply be reused. Complete rewiring is technically complex and often economically unjustifiable, especially in sensitive or listed buildings. At the same time, there is often a desire to continue using existing wired detectors. Wireless-based systems offer a high degree of flexibility and significantly reduce installation times, but in hybrid scenarios they often lead to parallel system structures or additional control panel hardware.

This is exactly where SATEL’s ACX-210 comes in.

The compact module integrates up to four wired detectors (NO, NC, EOL, 2EOL) directly into the BE WAVE wireless system. No additional control panel is required. In addition, four programmable outputs are available for local control or switching tasks.

The 4–24 V DC power supply allows integration into existing infrastructure, meaning that existing power supplies can continue to be used. With dimensions of just 21 × 41 × 13 mm, the module is also suitable for installation situations with limited space, such as within existing enclosures or flush-mounted installations.

This results in a clear economic advantage for installation companies: project implementation is accelerated, material and installation costs are reduced, and existing components can be integrated into modern wireless architectures in an economically sensible manner. At the same time, compliance with EN 50131 Grade 2 is ensured.

This approach highlights an increasingly relevant trend in security technology: the intelligent connection of existing wired infrastructure with scalable wireless solutions, without complete system migration or structural interventions in the building fabric.
