Market for door closing technology under pressure

June 12, 2023

In Austria, the market for door closing technology declined in 2022. Business with automatic door closing systems was particularly weak, according to current data from a market study by the market research institute BRANCHENRADAR.com Market Analysis.

The market for door closing technology continues to develop volatile. Last year, the trend pointed downwards again. According to the current BRANCHENRADAR Türschließtechnik in Österreich (BRANCH RADAR Door Closure Technology in Austria), manufacturer revenues fell by 4.5 percent in 2022 compared to the previous year to a total of 25.8 million euros.

However, there was only a decline in sales for automatic door closing systems. Year-on-year, revenues fell by almost eleven percent to 13 million euros. Demand even fell by almost 16 percent compared to the previous year. Loss contributions came equally from revolving door and sliding door systems. Sales of revolving doors, however, grew substantially by almost 18 percent compared to the previous year. The market for mechanical door closers also recorded an increase in sales. Compared to 2021, turnover was three percent higher, totalling 12.8 million euros. Business expanded with all product groups, but only as a result of rising sales prices. The demand for mechanical door closing systems fell by about two percent compared to the previous year.
