Frost & Sullivan has named Zimperium a ‘Visionary Leader’ in the field of mobile threat defence

Mobile devices are increasingly becoming a preferred target for cybercriminals. Smartphones and tablets are no longer used solely for communication; they now provide access to corporate networks, cloud services, business applications and sensitive corporate data. As mobile working models become more prevalent, the need to protect these devices against ever more complex threats is also growing.

Against this backdrop, the market for Mobile Threat Defence (MTD) continues to gain in importance. In its latest “Frost Radar™ 2026 for Mobile Threat Defence” report, the market research and consultancy firm Frost & Sullivan assesses the performance of leading providers in this market segment. Zimperium is classified as a “Visionary Leader” and ranks top in both the innovation and growth indices. Furthermore, the study confirms that the company holds the largest market share among independent providers of mobile threat defence solutions.

AI is transforming the mobile threat landscape

According to Frost & Sullivan, the increasing use of artificial intelligence is also changing the threat landscape in the mobile environment. Cybercriminals are increasingly using AI to automate attacks, personalise phishing campaigns and develop new attack methods more quickly.

The report therefore regards AI-supported security mechanisms as a key factor in protecting mobile devices. Zimperium pursues an approach in which threats are analysed directly on the device. This is complemented by multi-stage detection procedures designed to identify both known malware and previously unknown attack patterns and zero-day threats.

According to the company, these mechanisms also function in environments with limited or no network connection, enabling mobile devices to protect themselves regardless of a permanent cloud connection.

Distributed sensor technology improves threat analysis

Another aspect highlighted by Frost & Sullivan is global threat analysis. According to the company, this is based on a network of around 500 million mobile devices, which serve as distributed security sensors. This is intended to enable new attack patterns and mobile threats to be detected and analysed at an early stage.

These findings, in turn, feed into the further development of the detection algorithms and support the rapid identification of new attack techniques.

Mobile security for regulated environments

In addition to technical performance, the market study also assesses the flexibility in deploying mobile security solutions. Many organisations – particularly public authorities, operators of critical infrastructure, and companies in regulated sectors – have specific requirements regarding data protection, compliance and the operation of their security platforms.

According to Zimperium, the solutions can be operated both in public cloud environments such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud, as well as on-premises or in infrastructures that are completely isolated from the internet (air-gapped). This is intended to support a range of regulatory and organisational requirements.

Integration into existing security architectures

As modern corporate networks become increasingly complex, the integration of mobile security into existing security ecosystems is also growing in importance. The Frost & Sullivan report highlights that Zimperium provides extensive interfaces to enterprise security platforms and mobile management systems. This enables mobile threat intelligence to be integrated into existing Security Operations Centres (SOCs), SIEM or endpoint management solutions.

According to the company, more than 1,500 corporate customers worldwide rely on the platform. In addition, over 1,000 mobile applications are secured.

AI is set to ease the workload on security analysts

In addition to detecting individual threats, the focus is increasingly shifting towards the automation of security processes. Frost & Sullivan highlights investments in AI-powered analytics and autonomous security mechanisms designed to prioritise threats, provide contextual information and support workflows within the Security Operations Centre.

“Cybercriminals are increasingly relying on artificial intelligence to scale up and accelerate their ‘mobile-first’ attack strategies, meaning that organisations under attack are dependent on effective protection,” explains Shridar Mittal, CEO of Zimperium. “The use of AI is fundamentally changing the mobile threat landscape. An effective defence against AI-powered attacks must therefore also be based on AI security technologies developed specifically for mobile devices.”

Mobile security is becoming an integral part of cyber resilience

As business-critical applications increasingly shift to mobile devices, their importance within holistic cybersecurity strategies is growing. Mobile Threat Defence is thus increasingly evolving from a supplementary security solution into an integral part of modern corporate and security architectures.

The latest Frost & Sullivan study also highlights that artificial intelligence is becoming a key factor for both attackers and defenders. For organisations, this means integrating the protection of mobile devices more closely into their overall cyber resilience strategy in future and linking mobile security solutions closely with existing IT and security processes.
