Motorola acquires Silvus Technologies for 4.4 billion US dollars

August 20, 2025

Motorola Solutions has completed its acquisition of Silvus Technologies Holdings. The US company, based in California, develops mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) that do not require a fixed infrastructure. Such networks connect radio devices, computers or drones directly to each other and organise themselves autonomously.

The technology enables secure voice, video and data transmissions even in highly mobile scenarios, is resistant to interference and reduces the risk of detection. With a purchase price of around 4.4 billion US dollars, Motorola is further expanding its portfolio for mission-critical communication networks. The acquisition also strengthens the company’s role in autonomous systems, which are increasingly being used in defence and public safety. Motorola plans to expand Silvus’ global reach through existing customer relationships with government agencies and security organisations. ‘This acquisition underscores our commitment to providing state-of-the-art network technologies for protecting communities and borders,’ said CEO Greg Brown. Silvus will continue to operate as a separate brand within the company.
