Safer Internet Day on 11 February: easy ordering of penetration tests / TÜV Rheinland offers new online service / www.tuv.com/pentestshop
Safer Internet Day on 11 February is a global call for greater online security and digital responsibility. The German IT security report shows just how necessary this is: according to the latest figures from the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), an average of 78 new vulnerabilities are discovered in software every day. The growing threat is confirmed by a survey of cybersecurity experts published by TÜV Rheinland in November 2024: nine out of ten respondents (90.2%) stated that the risk of cyber attacks on companies and institutions in Germany has increased in the past twelve months. The main reasons for this are that processes are being digitalised and systems are being interconnected, access to important applications is increasingly web- or mobile-based, and more and more applications and data are being transferred to the cloud. Data has become a new and extremely valuable asset, meaning that cyber attacks are increasingly threatening the very existence of companies.
Easy and convenient access to more IT security
TÜV Rheinland now offers an online shop for penetration tests to increase online security. This makes it easy to quickly and transparently order tests of your own IT. The offer at www.tuv.com/pentestshop is aimed at companies throughout Germany and includes various penetration test services from TÜV Rheinland. With the help of a penetration test, or pentest for short, TÜV Rheinland’s experts check both IT and OT (operational technology) systems for potential vulnerabilities that could provide criminals with a target for cyber attacks. These include IT systems and OT components as well as online shops, customer portals, and online banking.
‘Protection against cyber attacks made easy – that’s what our new online shop stands for,’ says Dr. Benedikt Westermann, who is responsible for cybersecurity testing services at TÜV Rheinland in Germany. ’With a pentest, we provide our customers with an objective overview of their IT security and discover vulnerabilities before criminal hackers find them.’ The service is available to customers with immediate effect; companies can customise and order penetration tests online with just a few clicks.
