The project includes the Ruhrverband buildings and facilities in Essen, which are active in the field of water management. The company was founded in 1913 and employs around 1,200 people. The eCLIQ locking system from IKON as an ASSA ABLOY component and Walter Müller GmbH from Essen as an ASSA ABLOY partner will be used for the implementation.
The Ruhrverband, a public water management company, ensures the water supply for 4.6 million people with its facilities and cleans the wastewater from 60 cities and municipalities in the Ruhr and Lenne catchment area. The focus is on people and the environment, without losing sight of economic aspects. In addition to operating eight dams and five reservoirs, the company is also responsible for the maintenance and servicing of 47 gauges and 31 precipitation measuring stations. Furthermore, the association is responsible for the hydraulic engineering of 15 hydroelectric power plants, which are operated by its subsidiary, Lister- und Lennekraftwerke GmbH. The wastewater treated in a total of 66 treatment plants comes from around two million private households and commercial enterprises. The Ruhrverband was looking for a flexible electronic locking system to optimally secure and efficiently manage the entire infrastructure, from the main administration to the dams and treatment plants.
The association therefore chose the IKON eCLIQ digital locking system, which not only impresses with its compact design, but also with its robust, durable and secure components for reliable operation. The locking system is managed via the CLIQ® Web-Manager, a scalable and flexible platform that is particularly suitable for larger locking systems or for locations that are physically separated. Thanks to the platform-independent software, which is compatible with any standard web browser, the installation could be easily integrated into the existing IT infrastructure. A major advantage of the eCLIQ system is also the individual and flexible adaptation of access authorisations, whereby lost keys can be immediately deactivated and access can be granted that is limited in terms of time and location. This simplifies, among other things, the organisation of authorisations for technical service providers or cleaning staff, without the need to exchange physical keys.
