[Read more] Nedap’s iD POS 2 is an RFID-based point-of-sale reader designed to significantly speed up checkouts. This provides fashion retailers with additional real-time insights into their store inventory. It also enables data-driven loss prevention and numerous omnichannel services. iD POS 2 will be officially launched at EuroShop 2023 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

iD POS 2 was developed by Nedap to provide retailers with perfect inventory visibility, without waste and without loss. The point-of-sale solution removes friction from the in-store checkout process and improves customer service in a secure way using RFID data.

iD POS 2 has been extensively tested by global retailers such as G-Star RAW and Voice Norge AS. Barry van Wijk, Head of Retail Operations at G-Star RAW on the bulk reading capabilities of the new RFID reader: “Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for our customers to shop with us – in our stores or online. iD POS 2 guarantees a smooth checkout experience.”

For Voice Norge AS, the main reason for starting with iD POS 2 was to be able to update stock levels in real time. Hedda Hjerthén, Head of Supply Chain at Voice Norge AS, says: “We can directly transfer POS data at individual item level into iD Cloud, Nedap’s inventory management platform. This allows us to replenish our sales floors with the right merchandise even faster, relying on POS and inventory tracking data to further increase sales.”

“With the introduction of RFID at the point-of-sale, retailers can open up new use cases and extend existing RFID infrastructures with further benefits,” said Daniël Doorman, Product Manager at Nedap. “iD POS 2 automatically marks an item as ‘sold’ in the RFID database. In combination with an RFID-based EAS system, retailers can ultimately eliminate the need for hard tags and still maintain the same or even a higher level of security.

With the real-time inventory view that iD POS 2 provides, omnichannel services such as ship-from-store or click-and-collect (BOPIS) become much easier,” explains Doorman. “With this, we support retailers to offer a consistent shopping experience on all platforms. Having the right items available at all times is key here.”
