BHE General Assembly 2023: New association leadership

May 23, 2023

The BHE Bundesverband Sicherheitstechnik e.V. welcomed a gratifyingly large number of participants at this year’s general meeting on 12 May in Hamburg.

Around 140 members were on hand to learn about the activities of the past year and to get an outlook on future projects.

In the morning, Prof. Dr Antje-Britta Mörstedt gave a captivating talk on Generation Z. In her rousing presentation, she shed light on the values and expectations of this generation and presented various approaches to attracting young employees.

In the afternoon, the Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board Stefan Berger led through the General Assembly.

At the beginning, the members observed a minute’s silence in memory of BHE Board Chairman Norbert Schaaf, who passed away in December 2022, and former Board member Wilfried Pahne, who passed away in March 2023. Due to his many years of tireless commitment to the BHE, including 20 years as Chairman of the Board, Norbert Schaaf was posthumously appointed Honorary Chairman of the BHE.

Carl Becker-Christian, new BHE Chief Executive, looked back on a successful year in his annual report. With 101 new members in 2022, the BHE was able to record a significant increase in membership and now looks after around 1,160 security providers.

Current projects were then presented, such as the Secure platform for remote access to transmission facilities and hazard detection systems.

BHE members can download the presentations at www.bhe.de (after login).

Due to the sudden death of Norbert Schaaf, a position on the board had become vacant. Stephan Holzem of TAS Telefonbau Arthur Schwabe GmbH & Co. KG, Mönchengladbach, was newly elected to the Board. As a long-standing member of the board, Axel Schmidt of SALTO Systems GmbH, Wuppertal, takes over as chairman of the board.

The previous BHE Managing Director Dr. Urban Brauer, who retired at the end of April, was bid farewell by the members with a standing ovation. On behalf of all members, the BHE board thanked him for his life’s work and his commitment to the BHE as well as the entire security industry.

The next BHE general meeting on 26 April 2024 will be a very special event as it will be combined with the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the BHE.
