  • Verkada and SimonsVoss: A new era of integrated security in the DACH region
  • Focus on partnership, cloud technology and market transformation

With Verkada’s entry into the DACH region a year ago, the security market has changed noticeably. Driven by a clear strategy of integrating physical and digital security and a deep partnership with German premium manufacturer SimonsVoss, Verkada is setting standards for the future of intelligent security systems.

Strong partners, strong network

Verkada’s success in German-speaking countries is no coincidence. Right from the start, it was clear to those responsible, led by Benjamin Krebs, General Manager DACH at Verkada, that the market could not be conquered through individual activities, but through partnership-based cooperation. ‘The DACH market works through established partner networks. Only those who understand and integrate these can be successful in the long term,’ said Krebs in an interview with Euro Security.

SimonsVoss, known for its high-quality digital locking systems, was one of the first strategic partners. ‘Our Smart & Table product line integrates seamlessly into the Verkada platform – this reduces installation costs, saves money and enables solutions even where traditional systems fail,’ explains Henning Mutz, International Sales Manager at SimonsVoss.

This collaboration was officially expanded at this year’s VerkadaOne London. Verkada presented its latest partnership with SimonsVoss to over 350 IT and physical security executives. The integration of SmartIntego locks into the cloud-based Verkada platform marks another milestone in the expansion of enterprise-wide access control solutions. ‘Our new partnership with SimonsVoss will open up new potential as our access control offering continues to grow,’ said Ardon Anderson, Vice President EMEA at Verkada.

Technology meets user benefits

A key element of this success is Verkada’s hybrid cloud architecture. Security-related data is stored locally on the device, while cloud-based control enables centralised management and AI-powered analytics. ‘Our customers benefit from ease of use, flexible scalability and a platform that integrates physical access control, video surveillance, sensors and intercoms,’ explains Jake Leichtling, Director of Product Access Control at Verkada.

Verkada is also setting new standards in data protection: with its data privacy-first approach, all advanced features are disabled by default. They are only activated at the express request of the user – completely transparent, tamper-proof and with an audit log. This creates trust, especially in the data-sensitive German-speaking market.

Seamless integration for maximum control

With the integration of SimonsVoss locks, Verkada already manages access for over 3.7 million users and processes more than 1.5 million visitor registrations every month. Thanks to wireless integration, customers can control doors remotely, view live access events, activate locking functions and even monitor the battery status of the locks via the platform. Combining this with Verkada’s video and analytics features provides additional security – for example, by detecting tailgating incidents or unauthorised sharing of access data.

New features for smarter access control

New features were also presented as part of the platform development:

  • Verkada Guest + Access Control: Visitor badges can be easily created digitally or physically and assigned access rights.
  • OSDP compatibility: Third-party devices with OSDP protocol can now be easily integrated.
  • APIs for access levels & door exceptions: These interfaces facilitate connection to HR and IT systems and enable automated management of access rights.

Open platforms for maximum flexibility

Another core element of the joint strategy is openness to third-party systems. Thanks to the Command Connector Box, ONVIF-enabled cameras and third-party hardware can also be integrated into the platform. This interoperability offers customers maximum freedom and protects existing investments. ‘Our systems are not closed – they are built to combine the best of different worlds,’ Krebs emphasises.

Training, support and joint development

In addition to technology, the partnership also places great emphasis on training and qualification. Regular training courses, joint further education measures and a specially developed partner programme ensure that everyone involved – from technicians to sales staff – is optimally positioned. ‘We invest heavily in knowledge transfer so that our partners can understand and utilise the full benefits of the platform,’ emphasises Krebs.

Cloud security as a game changer

The growing importance of cloud-based security solutions is obvious. Companies are increasingly recognising the advantages of centralised management, automatic updates and AI functionalities such as free text search and intelligent motion analysis. According to Krebs, Verkada is ‘not just a provider, but a strategic transformation partner.’ With around 50 software updates per year, the system is continuously being developed – at no additional cost to the customer.

A practical example: in retail, linking point-of-sale data with video footage enables immediate verification of suspicious transactions. Or in access control: as soon as an employee is added or removed from an identity management system (e.g. Active Directory), the system automatically synchronises access rights in real time.

Vision for the future: scaling and market penetration

The plans for the future are clear: Verkada wants to continue growing – not only technologically, but also geographically and in terms of partnerships. New integrations in the areas of point-of-sale, visitor and building management, and predictive security are already in the pipeline. At the same time, the partner network is to be expanded with new IT resellers such as Bechtle.

A milestone on this path is the in-depth partnership with SimonsVoss. Both sides see themselves as complementary players who want to set new standards through joint innovation. ‘For us, it’s clear: cloud and wireless access control are not a contradiction – on the contrary, they belong together,’ summarises Mutz.

Conclusion: a partnership that redefines security

The collaboration between Verkada and SimonsVoss is a prime example of the transformation taking place in the security sector. Where proprietary systems once dominated, a new understanding is now gaining ground: openness, integration, user-centricity and data protection are the cornerstones of modern security architecture.

With the integration of SmartIntego locks, the presentation of new features at VerkadaOne London and the consistent expansion of the platform, both companies are impressively demonstrating that cloud-based access control has long since outgrown traditional door control – evolving into an intelligent, networked security infrastructure that offers scalability, transparency and control to companies of all sizes.

Verkada and SimonsVoss are demonstrating how technological excellence, partnership-based thinking and a clear focus on customer benefits are jointly defining a new era of integrated security.
