Federal Police Headquarters Munich: Escape comes to an end after almost six years

August 21, 2023

The Rosenheim Federal Police apprehended a criminal during border controls on the Inntal motorway (A93) on Wednesday evening (15 August). The man, who apparently disappeared after being released from prison, had been wanted by the public prosecutor’s office in Krefeld for several years. He still has to serve 121 days in prison.

The journey of a Romanian ended at the checkpoint near Kiefersfelden. As a passenger in a coach, the 32-year-old was able to identify himself properly, but when his personal details were checked, the search computer sounded the alarm. The officers found an arrest warrant issued by the North Rhine-Westphalian judiciary. The wanted man had been convicted of human trafficking, pimping and bodily harm by the Krefeld District Court in 2014 and did not return to prison in 2017 after being released from prison.

The federal police officers brought the Romanian national to Bernau prison, where he is serving his remaining four-month prison sentence.
