Verimi increases user growth tenfold and wins long-term contracts

June 30, 2024

  • Verimi and T-Systems sign multi-year contract with AOK-Gemeinschaft for the development and operation of the digital identity (GesundheitsID) for the 27 million AOK policyholders
  • Verimi increases user growth tenfold, launches new solutions for fraud prevention in direct debit payments and for digital vehicle registration (i-Kfz)
  • Sustainable growth secured through long-term service contracts with key partners

Verimi, a provider of ID wallet solutions and multi-joint venture of the German economy, is growing strongly in 2024 with users and new orders.

Together with T-Systems, Verimi has been awarded the contract by the AOK community to develop and operate the digital identity for all AOK policyholders. The health ID based on the Verimi Wallet-as-a-Service should be available in spring 2025. Barmer has been using Verimi Wallet-as-a-Service as a sectoral identity provider in the German healthcare system since December 2023.

Together with AOK and Barmer, almost 50% of people with statutory health insurance can use Verimi’s digital identity to easily access their electronic patient file (ePA) with their smartphone, use the ePrescription and access individual applications.

In the first five months of 2024, user growth on the Verimi platform increased tenfold year-on-year, after Verimi had already reached the EUR 10m revenue mark in the previous financial year. New solutions, e.g. for identity checks to prevent fraud in direct debit payments and for onboarding and digital signatures for digital vehicle registration (i-Kfz), contributed to the strong growth in 2024. Since the beginning of the year, Verimi has concluded service contracts, some of them lasting several years, with joint venture partners such as Allianz, Deutsche Bahn, HUK-COBURG, LVM, Provinzial, Volkswagen and other partners, thus securing sustainable growth.

After six years, Managing Director Dr. Dirk Woywod left Verimi at his own request at the end of May. Dr. Woywod shaped the establishment and development of the Verimi platform and successfully led the company on its growth path together with CEO Roland Adrian. André Petzold, long-time commercial director at Verimi, has been appointed as his successor as managing director.
