Suprema unveils new AI biometric terminal, the BioStation 3 Max

June 1, 2026

South Korean access control specialist Suprema has unveiled the BioStation 3 Max, its new flagship product in the field of biometric access control. The terminal combines AI-powered facial and fingerprint recognition with RFID, mobile credentials, QR codes and PIN authentication on a single platform for security-critical applications.
The focus is on an identity-centric security approach. The BioStation 3 Max is based on a hardened Linux operating system with Secure Boot and features a CC EAL6+-certified secure element to protect access credentials and cryptographic keys. Biometric templates are stored in encrypted form, whilst communication between the device and systems is secured via TLS. Additional tamper-protection features detect physical interference and trigger automatic alerts.
For data-sensitive applications, the terminal also supports Template-on-Mobile and Template-on-Card concepts. In these cases, biometric data remains on the user’s mobile device or smart card rather than being stored centrally.
Authentication is carried out via Suprema’s latest AI platform with a dedicated NPU. According to the company, faces are recognised in less than 0.3 seconds – even when people are in motion. Two integrated 2-megapixel cameras in the visible and infrared spectrum enable liveness detection and protection against spoofing attacks using photos, videos or 3D masks. The system supports up to 100,000 registered users.
For operation, the BioStation 3 Max features a 7-inch IPS touchscreen with visual user guidance, as well as integrated VoIP intercom functions with SIP support for direct contact with reception or security desks. Thanks to IP65 and IK06 protection ratings, the terminal is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. It supports wall and speed gate mounting as well as PoE+ power supply via a single network cable.
With this new platform, Suprema is targeting in particular businesses, critical infrastructure and high-security areas that place high demands on identity management, data protection and user convenience.
