Brivo unveils AI-friendly API for security applications

June 1, 2026

Brivo, a provider of cloud-based access control and security solutions, has unveiled a new interface specifically optimised for AI applications. The Brivo Security Platform API is designed to enable developers and system integrators to integrate security and business processes significantly faster and more cost-effectively than before.

According to the company, the API was specifically developed for use with modern AI agents and large language models. It is complemented by machine-readable documentation, management tools and resources that support the automated development of applications. This should enable integrations that were previously considered too complex or costly to be implemented within hours rather than months.

Brivo sees considerable potential for the security industry, particularly in the field of so-called Agentic AI. The API enables the integration of access control, video management, alarm technology and third-party applications via a shared platform. It supports leading AI models such as Gemini, Claude and GPT, as well as AI-powered development environments such as Codex and Cursor.

According to Brivo, the benefits of the new API include accelerated development of integrations, the creation of custom applications via natural language input, and the consolidation of access and video data into a single application. For security integrators, this opens up the possibility of delivering bespoke solutions more quickly and becoming less dependent on the development roadmaps of individual manufacturers.

Initial practical examples demonstrate the range of possible applications. Among other things, automated access systems for co-working spaces have been developed, gym membership databases linked to access controls, and digital keys for property viewings provided automatically. Further applications include licence plate-controlled access systems for logistics sites, car park management for office buildings, and secure video access for parents at nurseries.

“The ability to develop integrations is increasingly limited only by the imagination,” explained Collin Trimble, CEO of security integrator Alarm Masters. Using the Brivo API and an AI development platform, he said, they had succeeded in connecting an access control solution with a third-party burglar alarm system without having to undertake traditional development projects.

With the new API, Brivo aims to further automate the integration of physical security systems and accelerate the use of AI technologies in the security industry.
